At the age of just 14, while studying in Class 7, Adil took his first steps into the world of martial arts.

In 2019, when most teens were still trying to find their interests, Adil was already punching and kicking his way toward a future filled with discipline, focus,

and purpose. With minimal facilities and little exposure in his village, his decision to join martial arts was a bold one —

but one that would define the rest of his life.

Breaking Barriers and Setting Records

Fast forward just a few years, and Adil has done what few could imagine:

His talent has been widely recognized and honored by several key figures, including the J&K Sports Secretary, Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, and many prominent local leaders such as the DDC Chairman, DDC Vice Chairperson, DDC Sogam, MLA Lolab, SSP Kupwara, SP Kupwara, and the Additional DC of Kupwara.

He has also received tremendous backing from the Indian Army, particularly from Brigadier Kunal Sharma of the 28 RR, CO Abhishek Sharma, and all other officers of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR). Their constant encouragement, along with overwhelming support from his local community, has played a crucial role in keeping him motivated and focused through every challenge and triumph.

A Mentor for the Youth: Teaching Self-Defense

True champions don’t just win medals — they lift others. Adil took this to heart when he was selected by the CEO of Education, Kupwara, to lead a self-defense training project for school students. For two months, he conducted intensive training programs in over 100 government schools across the Sogam zone. Thousands of students — especially girls — learned essential techniques for self-protection, confidence-building, and discipline.

This initiative made him not only a sports icon but also a youth role model — someone who is using his talent to uplift society and contribute meaningfully to his region.

Continuing the Journey: Eyes on the National Podium

Currently, Adil is undergoing professional training in Wushu, another martial art discipline, at KIC (Kashmir Institute of Coaching) in Handwara. His talent has already taken him across five major states in India — Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Delhi, and Hyderabad — where he has showcased his skills, competed at high levels, and won the admiration of fellow athletes and coaches alike.

Adil’s path has not been easy. Coming from a remote village with limited access to sports infrastructure, financial limitations, and minimal exposure, he had every reason to give up. But he didn’t. His journey is built on grit, resilience, and an unyielding belief in his dreams.

Adil dreams of representing India at the Asian Games and even the Olympics someday. He wants to open a martial arts academy in Kupwara to train future athletes from the region. His long-term vision is to create a platform where valley youth can channel their energy into sports — keeping them away from negative influences and pushing them toward excellence.
